How to Get Started?

  • Click here to view how to sign up for the NET training program. We can assist if you have questions.

  • PBEM NET certification training expectations and information is worth checking out.
  • Additionally, complete the Online Basic Preparedness training for an introductory course on the principles of emergency preparedness and the disaster risks we face in the Pacific Northwest. The course consists of 17 online videos that, in total, run approximately two hours.
  • The Basic NET class conforms to the fundamental CERT curriculum manual, and an electronic version of the CERT curriculum is available.

Still interested in expanding your leadership knowledge to help others?
  • Are you Ready for the Big One? Well, sorry, we don't have anything scheduled, however, to help you prepare here are links to material used in the last training event: Preparedness Documentation & Preparedness Presentation.
  • Complete IS-100 training online. IS-100 is a three hour free online course that will train you on the Incident Command System (ICS). ICS is the operations framework used by all emergency response organizations, including Portland NET. You can take the training at: http://training.fema.gov/EMIWeb/IS/courseOverview.aspx?code=IS-100.b
    That should help get you started!

We hold monthly NET Team Planning/Training meetings that were aligned with Maplewood NET to promote cross neighborhood response, so we meet on the 4th Wednesday of each month from 7:15 to 8:30pm via Zoom. Please keep in mind that non-NET certified attendees are welcome to learn more and help out. If you'd like to learn more, check out homepage to sign up.
